I’ve been a trial attorney since 1983. When I started, there were probably four female attorneys in the county–two were trial attorneys. All of the judges and referees (now magistrates) were men. Around half of the bar is female now, and the bench is also close to 50-50.
When I returned to my home county in 2022,
it was the same, except there are more female judges and magistrates predominantly female, and we just elected a woman as county prosecutor.
